El álbum debutó en los Estados Unidos en el número 2 del Billboard 200, esto marcó la segunda artista femenina de hip hop de mayores ventas en una semana, detrás del álbum de Lauryn Hill, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill en 1998. El álbum debutó en los primeros lugares en Canadá, Reino Unido e Irlanda, principalmente.
Su segundo álbum Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded fue lanzado en abril de 2012, anticipado al sencillo «Starships», el cual alcanzó el número 5 del Billboard Hot 100 en Estados Unidos y el 4 en Canadá así como top 10 en Australia, Reino Unido e Irlanda entre otros. Después del lanzamiento del álbum alcanzó la cima del Billboard 200 en Estados Unidos, Reino Unido —donde se convirtió en la primera rapera femenina en colocar un álbum número uno— así como también la entrada en las listas de Australia, Nueva Zelanda entre otros. Hasta el momento Nicki ha vendido 13 millones de álbumes en todo el planeta repartidas en 7 millones de Pink Friday y 6 millones de Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.
Sus trajes extravagantes y coloridos, pelucas y ropa le han dado el reconocimiento de icono de la moda.Ella aparece como actriz de voz en Ice Age 4: Continental Drift, actualmente es juez en American Idol y ha colaborado con Adidas, MAC Cosmetics y Pepsi. Nicki Minaj ha ganado seis BET Awards, cuatro American Music Awards, dos MTV Video Music Awards y el premio Estrella en ascenso (Billboard) 2011.
